What is ISO 27001?

Information security is commonly defined using the C-I-A triad:
Confidentiality – Information is available only to authorised users
Integrity – Information is accurate and complete
Availability – Authorised users have access to information when they need it
These form the three principles of information security of security systems, known as the C-I-A triad. An information security management system that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001 preserves the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information by applying a risk management process and gives confidence to interested parties that risks are adequately managed.
